A Pet's Christmas
by Xander Riley
I wanted a pet to call my own,
I wished for it both night and day.
I was tired of being afraid and alone.
I continued to hope and to pray.
Each day passed me by with no pet in sight,
I refused to be sad or depressed.
Then Santa appeared in the park late one night;
On his lap, I made my request.
I've waited so long, but the day's finally here -
And I'm waiting under the tree
With red ribbon collar and grin, ear to ear
'Til my new pet wakes up and finds me.
(Christmas is not only for humans!)
